Over 300 people signed up for visiting Cuisinart last year

Join Our Facebook Page for latest news on CuisinArt

CUISINART 2019, now in its fourth year, is another novel concept event from Calcutta Club USA, and is the only live Indian culinary contest in New England. Fusing food and art, Cuisinart will host the combination of a fine Indian style cooking competition among non-professional chefs and an exquisite live art creation by talented artists in the same venue. Attendance at this event will be free with advance online registration.

As in earlier Cuisinarts, we will have a Live Art program to the accompaniment of music & dance. This year, we are hoping to add several young talented artists in the Live Art segment. Several dancers will participate in a dance sequence for 30-45 minutes during which the artists will paint real time on canvas. The live paintings will be auctioned and the proceeds donated to charity after costs deductions. Interested young artists and dancers are welcome to contact us through channels provided below.

Cuisinart Culinary Contest Rules:

1. All cooking contestants must register for the live cooking slot online.
There is no cost for just attending, but you must register online free. We can accommodate maximum 5 live cooking spots per category.

2. You will be participating in any one of the three rounds of live cooking. The categories for this years cooking contest are not confirmed yet as we design it to fit the collective expertise of the participants. It will be announced by March 15.

It must be possible to complete cooking the dish live at the venue within 30 minutes using an Electric skillet or Portable single burner (no ovens or stovetops). You need to bring your own skillet Assume 110V only power supply. Again, you can only enter for one live category in Cuisinart. Also bring a printed recipe of your dish for judge's evaluation.

4. In the finals, each selected contestant will cook their dish in front of the audience and the judges within 30 minutes time linit. You must bring your own ingredients and cooking vessels. After 30 minutes, the chefs will have to stop and place their cooked dish on the display table within 5 minutes with table settings for maximum 4 judges. The judges will come by, taste the prepared food and ask you questions, which you should be ready to answer.

5. A winner and runners-up prize will be awarded for each category.

6. All interested contestants must be at least 18 years of age to participate. The contest is open to all genders.

Live Art Show and Charity Auction

An innovative and novel offering of Cuisinart is the Live Art Show, introduced last year. In this segment, two artists make a timed canvas painting in approximately half an hour, to the tune of an exotic musical choreography. Last year, the dance theme was Indian classical music. This year, we will celebrate folk dances from multiple states, performed by students of Boston area schools. It's a spellbinding show, which has no rehearsal - as art takes form rapidly. As soon as the program ends, the painting must complete - after which, they will be auctioned to charity. Last year, we raised enough money to donate to ASHA Students Organization of Acton Boxboro High School, which supported one year of education of 6 girls from Prerna Girls School in Lucknow. We hope to achieve a similar target this year.

Our live artists this year will be announced soon. It takes a lot of courage to take on this challenge, so we are very grateful to them for volunteering their services. Accompanying them will be several musicians and  dancers. Below is a list of last years dancers.
